PLIB recently received approval for a sampling and testing plan for Japanese Sugi timbers from the American Lumber Standard Board of Review. The testing program is designed to develop U.S. design values for Japanese Sugi in timber sizes. Sample collection has been completed and testing is underway. Testing will primarily be conducted at Oregon State University with some testing at the Japanese Forest and Forest Products Research Institute in Tsukuba. PLIB expects to complete the analysis of the test data and submit its report to the Board of Review in November 2025.
